Dr. Fortmann is committed to practicing dentistry in a way that’s tailored to each patient’s individual dental health and strongly believes in a multi-specialty team approach to patients with complex needs.

Dr. Fortmann received a Bachelors degree at UCLA in Biology, finished her Doctorate of Dental Surgery with honors at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, and completed a three-year prosthodontic residency at the University of Texas where she served as chief resident.  While she was there, she also completed a year-long preceptorship in dental implantology. To bring her education full circle, she was thrilled to return to California to join UCLA’s Maxillofacial Prosthetics program. Working with patients in need of facial prosthetics has been a very rewarding phase of her dental career.

Dr. Fortmann now calls Southern California home permanently. She followed the swallows home to San Juan Capistrano to set up a private practice and treat members of the surrounding communities. She splits her time between San Juan Capistrano and Santa Ana where she works  along side Dr. Nelson Lowe exclusively treating dental oncology patients. In addition to private practice, she spends part of her time at UCLA School of Dentistry where she enjoys teaching dental students and residents at the university.

Dr. Fortmann became one of a handful of prosthodontists in Orange County to obtain Board Certification in Prosthodontics and is honored to be a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists (FACP) and an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics.

When she’s not working with students or busy in practice, you can find Dr. Fortmann gardening, biking, watercolor painting or exploring the natural beauty of Southern California.
